Lois E. Stolpe, 88, of Sioux City passed away Sunday, May 8, 2016, at her residence surrounded by her family.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Morningside Lutheran Church. Interment will be in Obert Cemetery, Obert, Neb. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Lois was born on Aug. 26, 1927, in Sioux City, to Arthur and Geneva (Lund) Dahl. She graduated from East High School in 1946.
She was united in marriage to Eldon Stolpe on Oct. 18, 1946, in Sioux City. Lois was well known as the Lefse Lady. She actively worked elections for many years and enjoyed bowling, up until she was 83 years old. She was also a foster mother, caring for many babies over the years.
Lois was a member of Morningside Lutheran Church and was the oldest original member. She sang in the church choir for 58 years. After her children graduated, she began working at Cecelia Park Drug store as a soda jerk for eight years. She then went on to work at the Half Price Store for 22 years. Lois enjoyed traveling, especially one trip to Europe with Eldon.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Eldon of Sioux City; children, Ritch (Judy) Stolpe of Sioux City, David (Chris) Stolpe of Berwick, Maine, Donelle (Don) Flammang of Dallas, Ore., and Rhea (Todd) Greve of Wakefield, Neb.; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Ann Dahl of Salem, Ore.; daughter-in-law, Terri Stolpe of Sioux City; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Gary Stolpe; grandson, Marshall; great-granddaughter, Katelyn Elaine; two brothers; and three sisters.
