SIOUX CITY -- Lola "Mae" Jackson, 95, of Sioux City died Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2010, at Countryside Retirement Center in Sioux City.
Private graveside services will be held in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent online to christysmith.com.
Mae was born Nov. 1, 1914, in Sweet Springs, Mo., the daughter of William and Cora (Paige) Zeigel. She married Herschel Jackson on May 19, 1933, in Rock Port, Mo. They moved to Iowa in 1938, settling in Sergeant Bluff. She worked at Sioux City Battery for almost 10 years, Sioux City Air Base Exchange for three and a half years and Lindberg Variety in Sergeant Bluff for more than 10 years. Herschel died on Nov. 27, 1994.
She enjoyed embroidery and made dish towels. She enjoyed attending craft shows and bowled for more than 30 years.
Survivors include two daughters, Evelyn Christensen of Sergeant Bluff and Janet Harder of Aurora, Colo.; seven grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William A. and Cora Etta Zeigel; her husband, Herschel Jackson; a son, Everett Jackson; four sisters; and three brothers.
