SIOUX CITY -- Loraine Esther Wall, 82, of Sioux City went to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ on March 13, 2010.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Morningside Assembly of God Church. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Loraine was born on Jan. 23, 1928, in Sioux City, the daughter of Jesse and Hulda Kuhlmann. She moved at the age of 2 to Rapid City, S.D., returning to Sioux City at the age of 12. She graduated from East High School in Sioux City. After graduation, she worked at Nystrom Electric and then went on to Postal Finance for the next nine years as the assistant office manager.
She married George Wall on June 27, 1947, in Sioux City. After taking time off to raise her family, Loraine became a Mary Kay consultant and was active with Mary Kay for many, many years. Her final job before retirement was with MCI Communications, where she received many awards for her outstanding sales performance.
Loraine was a beautiful soprano and both she and George sang together at churches, weddings and funerals. They also made regular appearances on radio and television programs throughout the region in the 1950s, 60s and 70s. Loraine was an active member of Morningside Assembly of God Church, heading the Greeters Committee for many years. She was a Sunday School teacher and a mentor for many young women throughout her life.
She loved helping people and was very active with the Gospel Mission in Sioux City for more than 40 years, serving on the board for a number of years until retiring this last year. She was also active with Christian Women's Club and Women Aglow.
More than anything she was an elegant, graceful, Godly woman who loved her family and friends deeply. Loraine always thought of others and will be greatly missed by all of those who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 62 years, George Wall; her three children, Kraig Wall and his wife, LaSandra, Greg Wall and his wife, Janet, Kim Skipper and her husband, George; nine grandchildren, Ariel Brasher and her husband, Jeremy, Nathan Wall, Brandon Wall, Ciana Cloud and her husband, Jeff, Britton Wall, Jordan Wall and his wife, Megan, Alexandria Skipper, Sawyer Skipper and Griffin Skipper; plus many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Honorary pallbearer will be Larry Axlund.
