SIOUX CITY -- Loraine A. Wille, 91, of Sioux City passed away Monday, Jan. 30, 2012, at a Sioux City hospital surrounded by her loving family.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The Rev. Merlin Schrad will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with a Catholic Daughters of America rosary at 4 p.m. and a parish vigil service at 7 p.m., at Larkin Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Loraine was born on April 12, 1920, in Roselle, Iowa, the daughter of John and Ann (Werner) Haubrich. She was raised in the Carroll, Iowa, area.
She married Edward J. Wille on Nov. 23, 1938, in Carroll. They lived in Carroll and moved to Sioux City in 1954. Edward died on June 28, 1967, in Sioux City. Loraine went back to school at Western Iowa Tech Community College and graduated with honors with her LPN degree on Aug. 3, 1973. She worked at St. Joseph Hospital, Mercy Medical Center, Hospice of Siouxland and she did home health care until she was in her late 70s.
Loraine was a 55-year member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and a 40-year member of the Catholic Daughters of America. She was named Catholic Daughter of the Year in 1995. She was also a member of the Catholic Women's League and the rosary club and did volunteer work at the Bargain Center. She also volunteered at Trinity Heights/Queen of Peace Shrine and attended weekly adoration there. She enjoyed gardening and loved her flowers, cooking for the family and she was a wonderful seamstress. Her family meant everything to her.
She is survived by her children, Jean and Tony Braunger of Sioux City, Judy Fleming of Omaha, Ed Wille of Scottsdale, Ariz., Linda and Don Pratt of Sioux City; 16 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Edna Schleisman of Lake City, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, JoAnn Brown; three brothers; and three sisters.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
