Lorene was born on Aug. 9, 1943, in Sioux City, the daughter of the late Loren and Etta (Dimick) Renn. She graduated in 1961 from East High School in Sioux City. She earned her bachelor of arts degree from Midland Lutheran College in Fremont, Neb., and later received a certificate from Wartburg Theological Seminary, Dubuque, Iowa.
She was united in marriage to John Glant on May 28, 1968 in Sioux City. Lorene worked at Sioux Transportation in Sioux City, the Federal Office of Emergency Management (now known as FEMA) to assist with disaster recovery after Hurricanes Eloise and Agnes in Harrisburg, Pa., and as a legal clerk for U. S. Attorney's Office in Harrisburg. She also worked for the U. S. Postal Service as a letter carrier and personnel assistant in Sioux City and as postmaster in Arthur, Bronson, Whiting, and Sloan, all in Iowa.
After federal retirement, she answered the call to be a pastor in the Lutheran church. She first served as a pastoral intern with South West Iowa Ministries at Bethesda Lutheran in Clarinda, St. John Lutheran and Presbyterian churches in Essex, Fremont Lutheran in Red Oak, Tabor Lutheran Church (Wallin) in Stanton and Strand Lutheran in Villisca, all in Iowa. She was ordained as pastor in the ELCA in 2010 and served Hope Lutheran in Everly, Iowa, and Harvest Ministry: Salem Lutheran, rural Correctionville and St. John Lutheran, Cushing, Iowa.
She was a member of St. Luke Evangelical Lutheran Church and associate member of Augustana Lutheran Church, both in Sioux City. While she lived in Pennsylvania, she was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lemoyne.
Lorene loved to travel, reading, gardening, and most of all caring for others, especially her family and friends. Her sense of adventure never ceased to amaze her husband, especially her zip-lining journey last fall.
She is survived by her husband, John M. Glant III; children, Tracy (Steve) Barrick of Fayetteville, Pa., and Travis Glant of Sioux City; brother, Gordon (Carolyn) Renn of Virginia, Minn.; and grandchildren, Rachel (David) Hood of Hatboro, Pa., Kim Barrick of Papillion, Neb., and Austin and Madison Glant of Sioux City.
She was preceded in death by her brother, John Renn; and her sister-in-law, Darlene Renn.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Luke Lutheran Church for scholarships for lay ministry in the Western Iowa Synod.
