Sioux City - Loretta Ann Boe, 94, of Sioux City died on Friday, April 11, 2014, at a Sioux City nursing home.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Armand Bertrand officiating. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until service time Wednesday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Loretta was born on May 15, 1919, in Climbing Hill, Iowa. She was raised in Sioux City and graduated from East High School. Loretta worked at the soda fountain counter at Kresge Drug Store and later as a bookkeeper and head cashier for the National Foods/Council Oak food store for 20 years. She retired in 1977. She was very proud of her career and work ethic.
She married Maynard "Curley" Boe in Dakota City on Aug. 24, 1939. He died March 14, 1972.
Loretta loved to read and if she could recommend a book for you, it would be Hotel. She and her husband built their home on the hill and she truly loved keeping house and taking care of her family. She took in and cared for her father-in-law, Grandpa Boe and her sister for many years. Even though Curley preceded her in death more than 40 years ago, she never let his memory fade and would talk about how she and Curley would push the furniture to the walls and dance to Lawrence Welk. She loved to dance. She will be fondly remembered by her devoted friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rufus W. and Genevieve (Hughs) Johnson; her son, Ronald in 2009; her husband; and her sister and brother in law, Velma and William Seymour.
