Loretta Katherine “Sugar” Bentson, age 78, of Sioux City died Monday April 16, 2018 at a Sioux City hospital.
Loretta was born in Sioux City, Iowa on December 6, 1939, the daughter of Raymond and Etta (Johnson) Simeon. She attended Sioux City Schools and graduated from Bishop Heelan High School with the class of 1958. She was united in marriage with Don F. Bentson on September 12, 1960 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sioux City.
Loretta worked as a secretary for several different businesses in Sioux City before becoming a huge help to her husband in starting his business in 1975. She was an active member of Mater Dei Parish Nativity Center. Loretta was a very caring person who loved all of her children and cherished the time she could spend with each of them. She loved to paint scenery pictures, travel, play cards, and always looked forward to her sister trips.
Her memory will always be cherished by her husband of 57 years Don, her daughter Kathleen Bentson of Sioux City, her sons: Steven Bentson and his wife Kelli of Lawton, and Jeffery Bentson and his wife Amanda of Sioux City. She is also survived by her four grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and one great grandson, three sisters: Patricia Wiggs, Marlene Kruse, and Ginger Blatchford, and three brothers: John Simeon, Chuck Simeon, and James Simeon.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Mary Ann Frank, and a brother Raymond Simeon.
