Lorna Lu Zellmer, 79 of Sioux City, Iowa passed away on Sunday, July 17, 2016, at a local nursing home in Sioux City, Iowa following a long illness.
A Celebration of her life will be held 3:30 PM, Sunday, July 31, 2016 at the Morningside Chapel of Christy-Smith Funeral Homes with Pastor Tom LoVan officiating. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM and the family will be present from 2:30 pm until 3:30 PM. Interment will be at a later date.

Lorna, born August 23, 1936. She was the daughter of the late Elmer and Beulah (Dodge) Arneson through adoption at a very young age.
She was a graduate of Central High school in 1954 and later attended Morningside College. Lorna began her career at Morningside College in the Alumni Development office and later served as the secretary in the Nursing Department, retiring from the college in 1998. In 2003, Lorna received the "Order of Morningside", Morningside’s highest award for outstanding service to the college. Lorna married Arnold Zellmer in Twin Falls, ID on August 9, 1956. The couple lived in California for a short time before returning to the area. To this union three children were born Donna, Mark and Curt. They raised their family and farmed near Bronson. In 1983 moved to Sioux City. Arnold passed away October 6, 2008.
Lorna enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. She and Arnold were constant companions. They enjoyed going to a family cabin in Minnesota during their retirement years.
She was a member of Morningside Lutheran Church.
Survivors include: a daughter, Donna Fiscus and her special friend Curt Hjorth of Sioux City, 2 sons, Mark and his wife Ellie of Las Vegas, NV. Curt and his wife, Audrey of Ankeny, IA., 7 Grandchildren, Troy Carnes and his special friend Robin Broveak, Rob Fiscus, Kayla and her husband Don Brensinger, Ashley and her husband Nick McFadden, Austin and his wife Julia Zellmer and Aaron Zellmer, 2 great grandchildren; Lilly Anna Hieb and Baylee Fiscus with another one on the way in October; a sister, Elna "Shorty" Green; Step Brother, Wendell Shearer
Lorna was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother; Gilbert Arneson, sister: Dianna Arneson, brother Cecil Mincer, and sister Ila Mincer.
In Lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in Lorna's name to the Alzheimer's Association or Hospice of Siouxland.
