Jefferson, S.D. - Lorraine Lewis, 88, of Jefferson passed away Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Merrill Muller officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today, with family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
Lorraine was born on April 24, 1924, in Sioux City, the daughter of Charles and Besse (Olson) Green. She was raised in North Sioux City and the Jefferson area attending McCook High School.
Lorraine married John C. Lewis on March 8, 1941. They made their home on the farm near Jefferson.
Lorraine was a loving mother who enjoyed spending time with her family and all their activities. She was lovingly referred to as Grandma Farm.
Survivors include her husband, John C. Lewis Sr. of Jefferson; her children, John Jr. and Helen Lewis of North Sioux City, Tom and Jacki Lewis of McCook Lake, S.D., Kathy and Kevin May of Jefferson, and Steve and Brenda Lewis of Jefferson; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; four brothers, Earl and Arlene Green of North Sioux City, Clarence Green of McCook Lake, Dick Green of McCook Lake, and Bob Green of Council Bluffs, Iowa; three sisters-in-law, Donna Lewis of Sioux City, Francis Lewis of Salinas, Calif., and Margie Green of North Sioux City; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a great-grandson, Brett; three sisters, Veta McCleery, Virginia Lewis and June Dawdy; and two brothers, Harry Green and Donald Green.
