Lorraine Frances "Lover" Raabe, 88, of Sioux City died Tuesday, June 10, 2008, at Holy Spirit Retirement Home.
Memorial services will be 5:30 p.m. Friday at Westlawn Presbyterian Church. Visitation with family and friends will be 4 p.m. until service time Friday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Lorraine "Grandma Rain" was born Jan. 9, 1920, in Whiting, Iowa, the daughter of Luther and Lila Hansen. She was raised by her grandparents, Fred and Francis King. She graduated from high school in Ireton, Iowa, in 1938. She attended Westmar College in Le Mars, Iowa.
She married Mike Otten and they had two daughters. They farmed in Pisgah, Hornick and Westfield, Iowa, areas. She worked in the print shop at St. Luke's Hospital, the Sioux City Police Department and at MCI before retiring.
She was a member of Westlawn Presbyterian Church and helped with their printing for many years. She was a member and officer in the Business and Professional Women's Club. She also belonged to the Isaac Walton League and REACT Radio Club.
She is survived by her two daughters, Joyce Vanderlinden and Grace Parrish, both of Sioux City; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and her sister, Myrtle Yurek Nuzum of Decatur, Ind.
She was preceded in death by her second husband, Bruce Raabe; and a sister, Grace Copple.
