Lorraine C. Wallman, 97, of Sioux City, died Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at a Sioux City hospital.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Friday in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City, with the Rev. Russell Senstad officiating. Visitation will be 10 to 10:45 a.m. Friday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Lorraine was born Feb. 5, 1916, at St. Paul, Minn., the daughter of James and Alice (Sumner) Conover. As a young girl she moved with her family to Sioux City. Lorraine attended school and graduated from East High School.
She married Luverne Wallman on Sept. 18, 1937. They lived throughout the country until returning to Sioux City in the mid 1970s. Luverne died in May 1995.
Lorraine was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church.
She loved knitting, reading and traveling. In 2012, Lorraine entered an afghan in the Woodbury County Fair and received the Reserve Grand Champion ribbon.
Survivors include her children, Robert (Sally) Wallman of Redding, Calif., Joan (Doug) Hansen of Sioux City, Gail Scofield of Lawton, Iowa, and Steve Wallman of Idaho Falls, Idaho; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Luverne; a sister; and three brothers
