SIOUX CITY -- Louis P. Calvillo Jr., 62, of Sioux City died Monday, March 1, 2010, at a Sioux City hospital following a lengthy illness.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Larkin Northside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Gregory Hanneman of St. John's Lutheran Church officiating. Burial of the cremated remains will be at a later date in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service Thursday at the funeral home. Louis was born Feb. 8, 1948, in Sioux City. He attended Woodrow Wilson Junior High School. He was a lifelong resident of Sioux City.
He married Jonne Joy Pappas on Aug. 5, 1981, in Sioux City. She died Sept. 13, 2000, in Sioux City. He was employed as a floor tech. at Mercy Medical Center -- Sioux City for 25 years. He retired in 2006.
He enjoyed working on model planes, cars and trains. He also enjoyed doing art work. He loved his family and friends, especially his nieces and nephews. He looked forward to being reunited with his wife after 10 years of separation.
Survivors include five brothers, Mark Calvillo of Sioux City, Joseph Calvillo and his wife, Evelyn of Sioux City, Thomas Calvillo and Rhonda of Hinton, Iowa, Tony Calvillo of Mesa, Ariz., and Phillip Calvillo and his wife, Mary of Phoenix, Ariz.; three sisters, Sandy and her husband, Ralph Verrone of Grand Junction, Colo., Ruth Ann Phipps of Sioux City, and Gloria and her husband, Larry Caskey of Sioux City; his stepfather, Earl Schaub of Sioux City; two half brothers, Tim Calvillo of Sioux City and Todd Calvillo of Homer, Neb.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death his father, Louis P. Calvillo Sr.; his mother, Geraldine (Swain) Schaub; his wife, Jonne; a nephew, Craig Verrone; and a brother-in-law, Patrick Phipps.
