Louis John Klusak Sr.

Louis J. Klusak, 98, Sioux City died Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, at Emeritus at Northpark Senior Living.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Aspen Grove Cemetery, Burlington, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Louis was born on Feb. 20, 1915, in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of Joseph A. and Josephine (Zak) Klusak. Louis graduated from the University of Iowa in 1941.
On Sept. 1, 1937, he married Janet L. Mosena in Burlington. He joined the U.S. Navy and served from 1943 to 1945, where he was a decorated World War II veteran. Louis worked as an executive for the Boy Scouts of America for many years and had been active with Scouting for 85 years. He had also worked as a social worker. He and Janet lived in Burlington for eight years and St. Louis, Mo., for eight years. They then moved to Springfield, Mo., Topeka, Kan., and then to Sioux City, where they resided for 46 years.
Louis was a member of the Downtown Kiwanis Club, the High Twelve Founders Club 1, A.F. & A.M. Lodge 615, A.F. & A.M. Grand Master Lodge 542, Scottish Rite of Free Masonry, and Abu Bekr Shrine Temple. Louis also belonged to the American Legion Post 52, the Vigil Member O.A. Lodge 97, the Traveler Protective Association of America, the Siouxland Senior Center and the NRA. In Sioux City, he was member of First Congregational Church.
He is survived by two sons, Louis J. Jr. and his wife, Alice of Morris, Ill., and Richard J. and his wife, Linda of Keokuk, Iowa; two grandchildren, Sarah and Christopher; and two sisters, Marie Zanzano of Cleveland, Ohio, and Emily Marmo of Hollywood, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet in 1991; his parents; his brothers, Joseph and Edward; and his sisters, Anna Houdek, and Frances Winter.
