JACKSON, Neb. -- Louis "Lou" D. Twohig, 96, of Jackson died Friday, May 2, 2008, in a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Jackson, with the Rev. Paul Albenesius officiating. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. John's Cemetery, Jackson. Visitation will be 1 to 3 p.m. today at Christy-Smith, Larkin Northside Chapel in Sioux City. Visitation will resume 4 p.m. today, with a 7 p.m. parish vigil service, followed by a Chalice service by the 4th Degree of the Knights of Columbus, at the church in Jackson. Lou was born on Dec. 11, 1911, in Jackson, Neb., the son of Joseph A. and Adda T. (Bousum) Twohig. He lived his whole life on the farm he was born on. He graduated from Waterbury High School. He married Mary Heleen Ryan on June 12, 1940, at St. Patrick Church in Jackson. She died on Jan. 27, 2005, in South Sioux City.
He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Jackson, the 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus in South Sioux City and 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, Garrigan Assembly of Sioux City. Lou also enjoyed playing cards.
He is survived by four sons, Bill Twohig and his fiancee, Shelly Peterson of South Sioux City, Jim and Judy Twohig of Jackson, Jerry and Shirley Twohig of Bremerton, Wash., and Mark and Tanice Twohig of Wilcox, Neb.; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Catherine Kennedy of West Virginia.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and four brothers, Joe, Rodney, Dick and Father Dan.
Pallbearers will be Jim Twohig Jr., Ryan Twohig, Chad Twohig, Corey Twohig, Jeff Twohig and Mitchell Tyer.
