Lowell Eugene Satterwhite Sr., 67, lifelong resident of Dakota City died Sunday, Sept. 11, 2016, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Dakota City Fire Hall. Interment will be in Dakota City Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Dakota City Fire Hall. Lowell was born on Jan. 28, 1949, in Sioux City, to Robert and Maxine (Olson) Satterwhite. He grew up in Dakota City and attended school in South Sioux City.
He married Alanna Speck Jan 19, 1993 in Elk Point, S.D. Lowell worked for Kar-Life Battery Company in Sioux City for 32 years. In 2006, he went to work for the City of Dakota City in the maintenance department. Lowell was a 41 year member of the Dakota City Volunteer Fire Department.
His hobbies included hunting and fishing with his grandson, cutting wood, and grilling and smoking meat for his family to enjoy.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Alanna of Dakota City; two sons, Lowell J. Satterwhite Jr. of Sioux City, and Jerry and Benita Yacevich of Dakota City; three daughter, Jackie Mazurek of Sioux City, Candace and Robert Rose of Sioux City, and Jodie Longie of North Dakota; his mother, Maxine Satterwhite of South Sioux City; brother, Ricky Satterwhite of Dakota City; two sisters, Sharon and Eddie Sr. Risner of Dakota City, and Bonnie and Robert Olson of Sioux City; a stepsister, Sandy Wanderscheid; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; his fur babies, Booboo and Mikey; special friends and coffee buddies, Roy Ehrhardt and Bob Watts.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Satterwhite; infant sister, Marilyn Satterwhite; and nephew, Eric Speck.
