SIOUX CITY -- Lucille D. Gereau, 98, of Welton, Iowa, formerly of Sioux City and Sergeant Bluff, passed away Friday, Aug. 12, 2011, at her daughter's home in Welton.
A celebration of life service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Salix, Iowa. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Sioux City. Visitation will be noon until service time Wednesday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home in Sioux City. Lucille Dale Cornell was born Dec. 23, 1912, in Ponca, Neb., the daughter of Fred and Georgiabelle (Hazelgrove) Cornell.
She was married to Bernard "Jack" Gereau. He died on March 15, 1984. Lucille was a homemaker.
She was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church in Welton. She was a previous member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Salix. She raised chickens and was the egg delivery lady. She enjoyed gardening and loved to play the piano.
Lucille is survived by her three children, Carol (Will) PlunKett of Pennsylvania, Janet Huffman of Welton, Iowa, and Thomas (Rose) Gereau of Janesville, Wis.; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a sister; and a brother.
