Lucille Maxine Nyberg, 86, of Sioux City died Monday, March 24, 2008, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 1 p.m. today at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel, with the Rev. Merrill G. Muller officiating. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation will be noon until service time today at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent online to

Lucille was born Aug. 28, 1921, in Sioux City, the daughter of William and Georgianna (Bancroft) Cartwright. She attended school in Sioux City.
She married Donald Nyberg in 1947. Together, they made their home in Sioux City until 1956, when they moved to California. Donald died in June 1991, and she moved back to Sioux City.
She was a meticulous housekeeper and a good cook, who loved taking care of her children and grandchildren. She wanted all children to be saved. She was a member of the Elks Club while in California and a member of the National Rifle Association.
Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Mary and Odell Nelson of Sioux City and Sandra and Roger Bender of Alcester, S.D.; six grandchildren, David Meredith, Bethanny Nyberg, Rachel Nyberg, Allen Sawyer, Alex Sawyer and Sarah Sawyer; seven great-grandchildren, Josh, Michael and Brittany Meredith, Damien Woods, Jeffrey, Gregory and Sydney Sue Nelson; and a sister, Isabelle Anderson of Atlanta, Ga.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald Nyberg; a son, Gary Nyberg; a daughter, Debra Sawyer; two grandchildren, Rebecca Nelson and Dennis Mansker; four brothers; and seven sisters.
