Sioux City - Luther V.E. Jacobson, 73, of Sioux City, passed away Jan. 11, 2013, at a local hospital.
Services will be 11:30 a.m. today at Christy–Smith Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Brent Lingle officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:45 to 11:30 a.m. today at the funeral home.
Luther was born Jan 11, 1940, in Sioux City, to Elmer and Hazel (Barnes) Jacobson. He grew up in Sioux City and attended St. Boniface Catholic School. He graduated from Heelan High School in 1959. He was a lifelong resident of Sioux City.
He was a dishwasher at St. Vincent Hospital, Green Gable's restaurant and Bishop's.
He was Catholic and a member of Cathedral of the Epiphany.
He loved gardening, Amarillo's, roses, musicals, sweets and astrology.
Survivors include his brother, Philip (Cheryl) Jacobson of Onawa, Iowa; two half-sisters Florence Ganske of Cedro Woolley, Wash., and Olga Merkens of Ada, Minn.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Charles David Jacobson; sister, Marion Evans; half-brother, Robert Jacobson; and two half-sisters, Jean Jacobson and Betty June Rutledge.
