M. Dolly Wilton (Den Hartog)

SIOUX CITY -- Marguerite Dolly Wilton, 93, of Sioux City passed away on Thursday, Aug. 6, 2009, at a Sioux City hospital from congestive heart failure.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dr. John Pehrson officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Dolly was born on Dec. 8, 1915, in Sioux City, the daughter of Herman and Josephine (Wauhob) Den Hartog. She attended Sioux City schools and graduated from East High School in 1934. She worked in the packing-house industry for Cudahy Packing Company prior to her marriage.

She married Charles Wilton on Oct. 4, 1941, in Dakota City. When her children were in school, Dolly worked at Bellas Hess Store in the men's clothing department. After her children were grown, she worked in the school lunch program at East Middle School for several years. She was currently residing at Countryside Nursing Home.

Dolly enjoyed traveling with her husband. She also enjoyed her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Holidays were memorable at their home and full of laughter.

She is survived by her sister, Gertrude Paul; four sons and their wives, Ronald and Sarah Barnes of Hacienda Heights, Calif., John and Caryl Wilton of Omaha, Neb., Philip and Sue Wilton of Bixby, Okla., and Paul and Janine Wilton of Sioux City; sisters-in-law, Mabel Den Hartog of Missouri, Helen Cory of Sioux City, Ruth and Armand Menard of Sioux City, Sally Wilton of Arizona, and Jessie Bell of Washington; 17 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and special friends, Don and Marlene Zacek of Sioux City.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles, on May 8, 1989; her son, Charles Jr., on June 20, 1961; her grandson, Jonathan, on April 3, 2005; brothers, Herman and the Rev. Dr. George and his wife, Clara Ann Den Hartog; sisters, Mildred Bochart and her husband, the Rev. Dr. Harold Bochart and Marie Kruse; and brothers-in-law, Arthur Paul, Bernie Cory, Dick Bell, Albert Wilton and Raymond Wilton.
