JEFFERSON, S.D. -- Mae Bernice Wagner, 82, of Jefferson died Tuesday, March 1, 2011, at her residence.
Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home in Sioux City, with the Rev. Merrill Muller officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Mae was born April 26, 1928, in Westfield, Iowa, the daughter of Clark and Gail (Campbell) Lilly. She grew up and attended school in Westfield.
Mae married Milton Wagner on Aug. 16, 1944, in Elk Point, S.D. They made their home in Westfield until 1949, when they moved to the farm at Jefferson. She worked at Wincharger for several years before working at Zenith and Pepsi.
She was a former member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Elk Point. She loved to picnic and go on fishing trips with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed bingo.
Survivors include her husband, Milton Wagner of Jefferson; four children, Nancy Brown of Jefferson, Douglas M. and Lois Wagner of Jefferson, Donald M. and Patsy Wagner of Gallatin Gateway, Mont., and Hope Finken of Sioux City; 13 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Norma Gruis of North Sioux City; and special friend, Paula Wagner of Salix, Iowa.
She was preceded in death her parents, Clark and Gail Lilly; brother, Arnie Lilly; and two sons-in-law, Glen Finken and James Brown.
