Magdalene M. Bolchunos, 88, of Sioux City died Monday, Sept. 15, 2008, at a Sioux City hospital after bravely battling poor health for several years.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in Calvary Cemetery, with the Rev. Daniel Guenther officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Homes.
Maggie was born on Nov. 16, 1919, in Kenosha, Wis., the daughter of Jacob J. and Petronele (Zalis) Bolchunos. The family moved to Sioux City in 1933. Maggie graduated from East High School. After graduation, she worked as a secretary at the welfare department. She then worked for Keightly-Pedersen Accounting firm. She then worked for Graham Airfield for several years until she retired.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and a former member of St. Casimir's Catholic Church. She loved traveling and after her retirement, she took a two-month trip around the world. This was a highlight experience of her travel life.
Survivors include her brother and his wife, John and Marilyn of Arvada, Colo.; her nieces, Valerie, Julie and Barbara; and her nephews, Bradley and Gary.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Anthony Boe; and a sister, Helen McBride.
Maggie will be remembered for her generosity in helping others with their tax problems, but most of all for her love, care and concern for us, her family members. We will miss you, Maggie.
