SIOUX CITY -- Marcella M. Coury, 93, of Sioux City died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2011, at Bickford Cottage in Sioux City.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Sioux City, with the Rev. Gary Snyder officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a parish vigil service at 7 p.m., at Larkin Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Marcella was born July 14, 1917, in Sergeant Bluff, to Kazmer and Marion (Gribas) Kashas.
On Aug. 21, 1948, Marcella was married to David J. Coury at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Sioux City. Marcella worked at Cudahy's and Swift's meat packing plants, and Zenith Electronics in Sioux City. She was a member of Swift Local 71 Retirees Union.
She had been a member of St. Joseph and St. Michael's Catholic parishes. She was active in the St. Joseph's Parish Guild and the Siouxland Senior Center.
Survivors include daughter, Barbara (Clark) Smith of San Rafael, Calif.; son, David J. Coury Jr. of San Rafael; daughter, Jean Coury of Novato, Calif.; son, Stephen (Gail) Coury of Denver, Colo.; five grandsons, Clark II (Yuka) and Corey Smith, and Stephen II, Michael and Zachary Coury; and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers, Anton and Kazmer Kashas; and three sisters, Sophie Rutowicz, Nellie Goodfellow and Josephine Schmitz.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in her name at the Cedars of Marin, P.O. Box 947, Ross, CA 94957, a residential care facility for the developmentally disabled, where David and Jean are residents.
