Margaret D. Finken, 82, of Sioux City passed away on Saturday, Feb. 20, 2016, at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Le Mars.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The Rev. Daniel Rupp will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., and a parish vigil service being said at 7 p.m., at Larkin Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Homes.
Margaret was born on Jan. 15, 1934, in Cosgrove, Iowa. She was the daughter of Otto and Edna (Griffin) Rohret. She was raised in Cosgrove and graduated from Cosgrove High School in 1952.
On Sept. 23, 1961, she married Kenneth Finken at St. Peter Catholic Church in Cosgrove. The couple lived in Council Bluffs, Iowa, and moved to Sioux City in 1969. Margaret worked at the University of Iowa and First National Bank in Council Bluffs. In Sioux City, she worked for the Sioux City Community School Program on their hot lunch program for 21 years. She retired in 1999.
Margaret was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. She had a great love for the Iowa Hawkeyes but what was most important to her was the time she could spend with her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Ken of Sioux City; three children, Neal (Janet) Finken of Bennington, Neb., Sandy (Joe) Stegge of Le Mars, Iowa, and David (Laura) Finken of Omaha; six grandchildren, Kevin Olson, Emma and Claire Finken, Sarah, Thomas and Michael Stegge; her brother, Dean Rohret of Iowa City, Iowa; and her sisters, Kay (Fred) Kasper of Iowa City, and Shirley (Tom) Skay of West Branch, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Marilyn Bell.
