SIOUX CITY -- Margaret Ann Brown Hamilton, 87, of Sioux City passed away surrounded by her loving family Saturday, Dec. 25, 2010, at her residence following a brief illness.
Memorial services will be noon Thursday at Wesley United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Nea Huggins, pastor, officiating. Mrs. Hamilton's cremated remains will be buried in Memorial Park Cemetery. Margaret was born May 6, 1923, in Salix, Iowa, the daughter of Clarence L. and Mamie (Wright) Brown. She graduated from Salix High School in 1940. She then attended Wayne State Teacher College, then Tri-State Business School.
She married Homer J. Hamilton on May 23, 1964, in Sioux City. He died on July 2, 1992, in Sioux City. She lived in Salix until 1964, when she moved to Sioux City. She was employed as an executive secretary for 26 years with Iowa Public Service.
She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church. She and her husband enjoyed traveling, playing golf, watching sports and spending time with the family. Following her husband's death in 1992, Margaret Ann and her sister, Margery Brown, established a home together in Sioux City.
Survivors include her twin sister, Margery Brown of Sioux City; two stepchildren, Jean Annwilder of Madison, Wis., and James A. Hamilton of Potomac, Md.; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many loving cousins and their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and three grandchildren.
