Margaret “Mickey” Greer, 87, of Sioux City died on Nov. 7, 2014, at a Sioux City nursing home.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The Rev. Roger Linnan will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., a rosary at 4 p.m., and a parish vigil service at 7 p.m., at Larkin Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Mickey was born on April 17, 1927, in Sioux City. She was the daughter of Ralph and Sylvia (Morrison) Tritz. She was raised in Sioux City and attended Cathedral Grade School and graduated from Cathedral High School. After high school, she worked at the Sioux City Battery Co.
On July 22, 1950, she married Thomas Greer in Sioux City. Tom died on July 13, 1991, in Sioux City. After her family was raised, she worked as the school secretary at Blessed Sacrament Grade School for many years.
Mickey was a longtime member of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic church and was very active in the church confraternity. She did volunteer work at the Queen of Peace and for Meals on Wheels. Mickey also gave tours of the Cathedral of the Epiphany.
She worked the election polls in Sioux City for many years. She was an avid golfer, loved playing bridge and cards and had a great appreciation of chocolate. Mickey had an unlimited capacity of love for her family, friends and anybody she would meet.
She is survived by her children, Patrick (Janet) of Pueblo, Colo., Rhea (Rusty) Roe of Arlington, Texas, Jenny (Mark) Wetz of Dakota Dunes, S.D., Ann (Rick) Feauto of Sioux City, Matthew of Sioux City, Thomas (Monica) of Shawnee, Kan., and Andrew (Carie) of Sioux City; 22 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; her sisters, Sylvia "Happy" Heffernan and Patti Morris and her brother, Pete (Mary Ellen) Tritz.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Jim; and her sister, Sally Striegel.
