Margaret A. "Peggy" Wengert, 60, of Sioux City, died unexpectedly Monday, March 5, 2018, in a hospital in Omaha.
Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Mater Dei Parish-Immaculate Conception Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Homes.
Margaret Anne "Peggy" Wengert, the daughter of William and Sheila (Rochford) Wengert, was born on Aug. 24, 1957, in Sioux City. She attended Immaculate Conception and Heelan Catholic Schools. Peggy graduated from nursing school from Western Iowa Tech with her graduate studies through Briar Cliff University. Her nursing career centered around pediatrics and obstetrics at St. Luke's and Mercy Medical Hospitals. Peggy spent most of her career serving sick hospitalized children and her empathy for the young was deeply felt.
Peggy lived a simple life dedicated to raising her daughter, serving others, and was loyally committed to her work. Peggy had a beautiful zeal for life and loved celebrating family events, holidays and staying connected with her family.
Peggy is survived by her daughter, Nicole R. Wengert of Sioux City; her mother, Sheila Wengert of Sioux City; three sisters, Mary (Rick) Madison of Kenosha, Wis., Ellen Wengert of Sioux City, and Diane Wengert of Phoenix, Ariz.; six brothers, Dr. Tim Wengert of Marshfield, Wis., Mark (Kajsa) Wengert of Ames, Iowa, John (Sue) Wengert of Johnston, Iowa, Thomas (Paula) Wengert of Ames, William (Shannon) Wengert of Lake Quivira, Kan., and Donald (Katie) Wengert of Clive, Iowa; and many many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, William J. Wengert in 2000; her grandparents, Don and Margaret (Pendergast) Wengert, and Frank and Ella (Rochford) Kollasch; and a grandnephew, Samuel A. Kazos.
