Margery Brown

May 6, 1923 — March 14, 2023

Margery Nan Brown, formerly of Sioux City, was peacefully reunited with her twin sister, Margaret Ann on March 14, 2023 at Pleasant View Care Center in Whiting, Iowa at the age of 99.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Margery and Margaret were born May 6, 1923, to Clarence L. and Mamie (Wright) Brown in Salix, Iowa. The twins continued to live on the farm on the north side of Brown’s Lake after the death of their parents. Margery graduated Salix High School in 1940 and attended Iowa State University. She moved from the farm to Sioux City in the mid 1960’s. Following her education, she worked at Corn Belt Supply and retired from First Realty in Sioux City, working well into her 70’s.

Margery was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and Eastern Star.

Margery often spoke of her wonderful childhood where they spent many hours swimming in their lake (Brown’s Lake). Margery and Margaret loved spending time with their family, especially the garage parties where the two sat in the middle of the youngsters, entertained by all their stories. The sisters enjoyed listening to the birds and were fortunate to spend time in Sanibel Island collecting seashells. Margery and Margaret both had a love of dogs and always included them whenever they talked about their family. Margery had many close lifelong friends including Alma, Ilene, Bev and Betty, Donna and Margarite.

Grateful to have shared her life with her are her cousins: Kristine Brown (Jim Schmidt) of Solon, IA, Julie (John) Nelson, of Bemidji, MN, Jo Brown of LaPorte, MN, Marcia (Arnie) Wittmaack, of Luton, IA, Kristin (Mike) Miltenberger of Sloan, IA, Wade (Sally) Brown of Salix, IA, Sherri (Tony) Meylor of Sloan, IA, and Mary Lou Brown of Bemidji, MN as well as Jennifer, Kim, Travis, Stephen, Maggie, Ben, Randi, Nichole, Rachel, Kari Ann, Jarred, Josh, Ben, Jake, Allison, Kayla, David, Lee, Trevor and their children.
