Maria Anna Meyers, 78, of Sioux City passed away Saturday, Aug. 20, 2016, at a local nursing home.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Faith Presbyterian Church. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until service time Friday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Maria was born on March 31, 1938, in Parsberg, Germany, to Josef and Maria (Riedhammer) Schmid. She grew up in Germany and was very proud of her German heritage. Maria later moved to the United States and proudly became a citizen on Feb. 21, 1997. Maria and her special friend, Junior Law, had a home in Mesa, Ariz., and had spent their winters there for the past 11 years. They enjoyed dancing and traveling together.
Maria also enjoyed crafts, cooking, and tending to her yard. She took pride in her yard and home.
Those left to honor her memory include her longtime companion, Junior Law of Quimby, Iowa; sons, Eddie and JoAnn Goldman of Indianapolis, Ind., and Michael Goldman; adored grandson, Griffin Goldman of Indianapolis; and friends, Tom and Kristin Noreen of Sioux City.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and several brothers and sisters.
