SIOUX CITY -- Marian Vanderham, 79, of Sioux City died Monday, June 29, 2009, at Sanford Health Center in Sioux Falls, S.D.
Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Berkemier Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Janice Bennett of Riverside United Methodist Church officiating. Visitation will be 11 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent online to

Marian was born Feb. 11, 1930, in Sioux City, the daughter of Lauritz and Ruby (Wright) Pedersen. She was a lifelong Sioux City resident. She graduated from Central High School.
She married George E. Vanderham on Aug. 2, 1952, in Sioux City. He died Sept. 3, 1998, in Sioux Falls. She was employed in the proof department at Toy National Bank and Norwest Bank. She retired in 1992.
She was a member of the Methodist faith. She enjoyed crafts, sewing, crocheting, reading and working her garden. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family. She also was a great cook.
Survivors include two sons, Steve Vanderham of Sioux City and Todd Vanderham of Sioux Center, Iowa; two daughters, Georgia and her husband, Larry Sopoci of Sioux Falls and Julie Vanderham of Sioux City; four granddaughters, Amy and her husband, Matt Gage of Sioux Falls, Amanda and her husband, Jared Berg of Columbus, Neb., Lisa Vanderham of Sioux City and Rebecca Vanderham of Sioux Falls; four great-grandchildren, Ally Gage, Ashliegh Gage, Ayden Gage and Anderson Gage; two brothers, Raymond Pedersen of Niles, Mich., and Phil Pedersen of Los Angeles, Calif.; two sisters, Harriet Bradish of Niles, Mich., and Marcia Knapp of Mesa, Ariz.; a granddog, Kirby; two great-granddogs, Dacotah and Duke; and two great-grandcats, Oscar and Mittens.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, George Pedersen; a granddaughter, Holly Vanderham; a son-in-law, Charles Conrad; a nephew, Tim McCleery; and two granddogs, Kelsey and Bailey.
