Sioux City, Iowa - Marie Grace Wheeler, 91, of Sioux City passed into glory Sunday, June 16, 2013, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be noon Friday at Cornerstone World Outreach. Burial will be in Memorial Park. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today Morningside Chapel, Christy Smith Funeral Home.
Marie was born on Nov. 29, 1921, in Sioux City, to George and Agnes (Magden) Culmsee. She was born and raised in Sioux City until the age of 35. She lived in Winter Haven, Fla., and New Mexico before moving back to Sioux City in 1985. Marie graduated from East High in 1938. She was a professional photographer and owned her own studios.
Marie enjoyed traveling, art, and singing. Marie was a volunteer chaplain at Sioux City nursing homes for more than 25 years. She was a dedicated member Cornerstone World Outreach for more than 27 years, working as a preschool teacher and church greeter.
Those left to honor her memory include her four children, Gary Olson of Seattle, Wash., Roberta (Wheeler) Dunn of Summerland Key, Fla., Albert Wheeler Jr. of Destin, Fla., and Mary (Ruby Reynolds) of Park Rapids, Minn.; her sister, Virginia Ferguson of Sioux City; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces and a nephew.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Albert Wheeler Sr.; and her sister, Delores Rawlings.
