Marilyn Greenleaf, 96, of Des Moines, formerly of Sioux City, passed away on Oct. 13, 2016, at Courtyard Estates Assisted Living.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, 1801 Morningside Ave., in Sioux City. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be noon until service time Saturday at the funeral home. Online condolences can be sent to the family at

Marilyn was born on July 30, 1920, in Sioux City, to Harold "Mac" and Helen (Nourse) McDole. She graduated from East High School.
She was united in marriage to Alva Noice Greenleaf on Sept. 19, 1941 at Grace United Methodist Church in Sioux City. He preceded her in death on July 7, 1997. Marilyn worked at Coast to Coast for more than 15 years, Sunrise Nursing Home, Johnson Biscuit Co., and as a Christmas wrapper at Martins and Younker's.
She was a member of Grace Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and several other groups at church. She enjoyed golfing, tennis, playing bridge, baking (especially pies) and canning tomatoes.
Those left to honor her memory include her children, Joan Carol (Wayne) Holles of Sioux City, Mark Allen of Sergeant Bluff, Kent Harold (Lisa) Greenleaf of Sioux City, Kay (Leonard) Schabold of Ankeny, Iowa, and Duane Powell of Ohio; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and sister, Carol Calvo of Moments, Ill.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Douglas; and two brothers, Jay and Lyle.
