Marilynn Louise Larson, 90, of Sioux City went to join her Lord and Savior and her husband on Thursday, July 3, 2008.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. James United Methodist Church, with Pastor Ryan Christenson officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., and an Eastern Star service at 7 p.m., at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Online condolences may be sent to

Marilynn was born July 29, 1917, at Chicago, Ill., the daughter of Kingsley and Euphemia (Kiddie) White. As a young girl, she moved with her family to Sioux City, where she attended Whittier Elementary, East Junior and East High School. Marilynn continued her education at Morningside College.
She married Duane D. Larson on July 24, 1937, at her father's home here in Sioux City. Marilynn worked at Morningside College as director of communications for more than 20 years. She later worked as secretary for Woodbury 70,001, American Family Insurance and finally, Southern Hills Baptist Church until retiring at the age of 80. Duane died May 19, 1981.
She was a member of St. James United Methodist Church and a life member of United Methodist Women and Wesleyan Circle, St. James. She was Past Worthy Matron and member of the Morningside Chapter 502, Order of the Eastern Star, Martha Washington Chapter D.A.R., Sorosis Study Club, Morningside Riparian Study Club, AARP and a former member of Warengle & Metro Chapters, American Business Women's Association. She was still very active with her clubs and organizations.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, reading and keeping up on family history and Sioux City history. Marilynn always enjoyed visiting and working with people. She will be greatly missed by her family.
Survivors include daughters, Diane and Tom Graham, Judith L. Davis and Barbara and Maurice Uhl Jr., all of Sioux City; nine grandchildren, Dan, Mary, Chris, Jason, Ryan, Adam, Dawn, Theresa and Sara; 21 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Frances Cullen and Jacqueline Nagel, both of California; a daughter, Gail Schmidt Lasher of Holstein, Iowa; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Kingsley and Euphemia White; her husband, Duane Larson; and a sister, Ruth Montgomery.
