Sioux City - Marian Mann, 76, of Sioux City passed away peacefully in her sleep Monday, June 24, 2013, at Countryside Senior Living.
Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Marian was born on March 28, 1937, in Sioux City, to Edgar and Anne (Rasmussen) Bishop.
She was united in marriage to Donald Ray Mann on March 17, 1978. She retired in 1999 from The USDA FSIS (Food Safety & Inspection Services).
Marian enjoyed traveling, gardening and boating on the Missouri River. Marian and Don traveled in their RV each winter to Texas or Louisiana until a few years before her passing. She spent much of her free time traveling with her children and grandchildren. She spent many summers with her family at her summer camp on the Missouri in Ponca, Neb., or Cottonwood Landing. In her spare time, she was an avid reader, enjoyed crosswords, and spending time with her pets and family.
Those left to honor her memory include her children, Alan (Lynette) Bliven of Tucson, Ariz., Mike (Kate) Bliven of Sioux City, Karen (Mike) Mitchell of Old Forge, N.Y., and Bradley (Tami) Bliven of Sioux City; a sister, Betty Foster of Sioux City; 13 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and two stepchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Ed Bliven; husband, Don; brother, Jim Bishop; and stepson, Steve Mann.
Memorials may be sent to the family and will be donated to RCIL, P.O. Box 158, Old Forge, NY 13420 (Old Forge/Inlet NY’s local respite program for memory care patients). Marian participated in this program during her time living in Old Forge with her daughter.
