SOUTH SIOUX CITY -- Marion J. Minear, 97, of South Sioux City died Saturday, Sept. 1, 2007, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel, with the Rev. Charles Wolff officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
Marion was born May 11, 1910, in Dawson, Minn., the daughter of Bernt and Matilda (Nelson) Trandahl. She attended school in Dawson and later moved to Sioux City at the age of 15 and has resided here ever since.
She married Clarence "Cookie" Minear on June 29, 1929, in Sioux City. He passed away in 1965. She was a house mother at St. Vincent's dorm and later sold Avon.
She was of the Lutheran faith. She enjoyed her daily television shows, cooking and family gatherings. She also enjoyed helping others and was a good seamstress.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Theo Jean (Minear) Kelly of Sioux City, Lavonne and Melvin Anderson of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Marilyn and Harry Gustafson of South Sioux City; a son, Jim and Virginia Minear of Omaha; 11 grandchildren, Patty and Gene Persinger, Marsha Maron, John and Kathy Kelly, Doug and Connie Anderson, Denny and Debbie Anderson, Rod and Linda Anderson, Karen and Chuck Whitehouse, Tamy and Robert Peterson, Trudy and Dan Hummel, Amy and Blaine Ahrens and Cherie and Mat Skager; 23 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; and a son-in-law, Dick Kelly.
