Marjorie Jean Jansen (Goodman)

Marjorie J. Jansen, 85, of Sioux City passed away Aug. 24, 2011, at a local nursing home.
A Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Redeemer Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Russell Senstad officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:30 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 5 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Larkin Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Homes, 2320 Outer Drive North.
Marjorie was born on July 3, 1926 to C. Oscar and Ella (Petersen) Goodman in Anthon, Iowa. She grew up attended school and graduated from Anthon High School.
On March 24, 1945, she married Marvin Jansen in Kingsley, Iowa. He passed away July 14, 2009. After her marriage in 1945, she farmed with her husband in the Anthon area and then in 1957, the family moved to Anthon, when they purchased the John Deere dealership. She moved to Sioux City in 1976, and had been a resident here ever since. In 1976, she started working for Williges Clothing Store in Sioux City until she retired. She later worked at Fishgalls and then Grand Jewelers until they closed.
Marjorie was a current member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Sioux City. When she lived in Anthon, she was a member of the ladies LWML group and active in the Anthon Women's Club. She always enjoyed family events such as birthdays, anniversaries and reunions. She was the family historian. She also loved her African Violets.
Survivors include her four daughters, Marsha Jansen of St. Peters, Mo., Lauren Jansen of Sioux City, Nancy and Bruce Rayl of Burien, Wash. and Sherri and Randy Quandt of Hinton, Iowa; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Ben Goodman of Scottsdale, Ariz., Paul and Darlene Goodman of Norfolk, Neb., and Con Goodman of Las Vegas, Nev.; a sister-in-law, Betty and John Lavigne of Little Canada, Minn; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Clarence and Robert Goodman.
