Marjory Evonne Goede (Renne)

NORTH SIOUX CITY -- Marjory Evonne Goede, 88, of North Sioux City died Monday, Aug. 24, 2009, in North Sioux City.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Riverside Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Charles Wolff officiating. Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Thursday in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Berkemier Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent online to www.christysmith.com .

Marjory was born Oct. 25, 1920, in Sioux City, to Walter Gail and Ele Amelia (Odegaard) Renne. She grew up and attended school in Sioux City, graduating from Central High School in 1939.

She married Jacob Goede on Oct. 18, 1946, in Sioux City. The couple made their home in North Sioux City for the past 62 years. They raised three sons, John, James and Peter. Jacob died Oct. 13, 1997.

She was a charter member of Riverside Lutheran Church, where she served as the church organist for 59 years. She was a member of Esther Circle and had been active on the quilting circle until 1998. She was a member of North Sioux City Senior Citizens Center.

Survivors include her three sons and their wives, John W. and Tammi Goede of Spencer, Iowa,. James R. and Barbara Goede of North Sioux City and Peter G. and Stephanie Goede of Eagan, Minn.; a sister and her husband, Maylou and Doug Austin of Watertown, S.D., and seven grandchildren, Nicholas, Jared, Aaron, Brittany, Case, Whitney and Dane.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Gail and Ele Amelia Renne; her husband, Jacob Goede; a brother, Wayne P. Renne; and two grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Nicholas Goede, Jared Goede, Aaron Goede, Brittany Goede, Case Goede, Whitney Goede and Dane Goede. Honorary pallbearers will be Dale Neely, Randy Fredericksen and Esther Sopoci.

Memorials may be directed to Riverside Lutheran Church organ fund.
