Jefferson, S.D. - On Friday, Sept. 28, 2012, Marlene "Patricia" Bogner, 71, of Jefferson made her final road trip. Heaven bound to see her son, Jay Heckt; siblings, Barb (Cornish) Jordan and Richard and Harry Cornish; nephew, Steve DeRaad; grandson, Andy Heckt; and her parents. Road trips were her favorite thing to do.
Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, with Rev. Merrill Muller officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery, Le Mars, Iowa. Visitation will be one hour prior to service Wednesday at the funeral home.
She began her first trip on Aug. 6, 1941, with her parents, Lorna and Forrest Cornish. After high school graduation in 1959 in Merrill, Iowa, Patricia began her life’s journey. Her first stop on this trip of life began in Sioux City with the birth of her son, Jay Heckt. Her second stop took her to Rapid City, S.D. to pick up twin daughters, Jackie (David) Steele and Janet (John) Kueny. Patricia’s third stop on this trip took her back to Sioux City to pick up another daughter, Bobbie Jo Geveshausen, and another son, Jeff Underwood. Her fourth stop was in Texas to pick up another daughter, Patty Bogner. On this trip of life, her family grew with 18 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. Often she included her surviving sister, Janet Warner and brother, Wayne (Patty) Albert and her many nieces and nephews.
Patricia worked at various jobs and sometimes two at a time. After retiring from Supreme Pork in 2007, she made traveling the country her favorite past time with Vegas being her favorite.
