Marlene Hazel Prichard, 73, of Sioux City passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2008, at a Sioux City hospital.
There are no visitation or services scheduled. Private graveside services will be at a later date in Graceland Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent online to www.christysmith.com .
Marlene Hazel Closson was born Nov. 25, 1934, to Donald and Velma (Boulden) Closson in Sioux City. She attended and graduated from East High School.
On Aug. 15, 1953, she and William K. Prichard were married in Elk Point, S.D. They lived in Sioux City, where William worked at Tower Construction Company and the Sioux City Fire Department. After his retirement in 1983, the couple opened and operated the Prichard Used Furniture Store for 10 years before they both retired.
She was active in the Sioux City Crafters and enjoyed working on her many craft projects. She enjoyed doing yoga, attending the different shows at the Orpheum Theatre and loved her dogs, Sugar and Chloe.
She is survived by her husband, William of Sioux City; sons and their wives, William and Jane of Le Mars, Iowa, Robert and Joanne of Davenport, Iowa; daughters and their husbands, Cindee and Craig Arnett of Sioux City and Molly and Mark Aguirre of Boise, Idaho; 11 grandchildren, Jon, Patrick and Annie Arnett, Karissa and her husband, Carter Fritz, Dustin Prichard, Alyssa, Lexie and Alanna Aguirre and Kendall, Brandon and Andrew and his wife, Meghan Prichard; a great-grandson, Kendon Prichard; her parents, Donald and Velma Closson of Sioux City; a sister and her husband, Nancy and Richard Pinney of Sioux City; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
