Marlin Nelson "Bose" Wilson

SIOUX CITY -- Marlin N. "Bose" Wilson, 78, of Sioux City died Sunday, April 26, 2009, at Indian Hills Care Center.

Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Larkin Northside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Merrill Muller of Wesley United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Kingsley City Cemetery, Kingsley, Iowa, with military rites conducted by the American Legion Nash Post 140 of Kingsley. Visitation will be 11 a.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent online to www.christysmith.com .

Marlin was born Jan. 28, 1931, in Aurelia, Iowa, the son of Dallas and Vonda (Ledgerwood) Wilson. He was raised by his uncle and aunt, Guy and Anita Ledgerwood. He graduated from Kingsley High School. He served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Korea from 1953 through 1954, earning the rank of corporal. After his military service, he farmed in the Kingsley area.

He later moved to Sioux City to pursue a job in the trucking industry. A few years later, he went to work for John Morrell Co., where he worked until his retirement in 1996. Later in life, he became a resident of Indian Hills Nursing and Rehab Center. He resided there for approximately nine years.

He was well known for his kindness, wit and his willingness to help others. Until his last days, he stayed abreast of current events and politics. He was an avid listener of talk radio.

He is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Christine and Carl Parker of Omaha and Micki and Oscar Hurst of Northport, Ala.; four grandchildren, Phillip Dean, Britny Dean, Courtnie Hurst and Isaiah Hurst; two brothers and their wives, Ralph and Jeanette Wilson of Sioux City and William and Marilyn Wilson of Kingsley; a sister and her husband, Juanita and Dale Armes of Montgomery, Ind.; and his aunt, Anita Ledgerwood of Le Mars, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Vonda and Maynard; his father, Dallas; brothers, Earl Wilson and twin brother, Marvin Wilson; and his uncle and guardian, Guy Ledgerwood.
