SIOUX CITY -- Marlin A. Desy, 57, of Sioux City passed away Dec. 26, 2009, from complications of diabetes.
No services are planned. Arrangements are under the direction of Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Marlin was born Jan. 6, 1952, in Sioux City, to Albert and Martha Desy. He attended Lawton-Bronson Community Schools. He worked for Swift and Co., Iowa Beef Processors, North American Manufacturing, Lincoln Seed, FIMCO and P&Q Auto Salvage before becoming a self-employed mechanic.
He enjoyed old cars, Kansas State athletics and Kansas City football.
He is survived by four brothers, Fred Desy and his wife, Marge of Sioux City, Michael Desy and his wife, Marla of Sioux City and Melvin Desy and his wife, Joanne of Alto Loma, Calif., and Marvin Desy and his wife, Pam of Sioux City; two sisters, Rowena DeFazio and her husband, Anthony of Sioux City and Marilynn Desy of Sioux City; a daughter, Amy Williams and her husband, Bob of Yankton, S.D.; two sons, Paul Desy of Yankton and Marlin Desy Jr. of Pierson, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Shannon and Matthew Desy; two grandchildren; a brother, Philip Desy; and two sisters, Dorothy Fortune and Martha "Marti" Anderson.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials.
