Sioux City - Martha Nancy Klave, 81, of Sioux City passed away Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013, at Touchstone Living Center.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sioux City. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Akron, Iowa. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Friday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
She was born in Turin, Iowa, on Oct. 4, 1932, to Harvey and Clara (Meyers) Allen. Martha was the oldest of 12 children and always helped her mother raising her siblings. Martha was employed at Wincharger. She married Harold "Shorty" Klave in 1983 in Akron.
She enjoyed bingo, garage sales, slot machines, crocheting, watching comedies on TV and visiting with people. In her younger days, Martha loved to dance the jitterbug. She had been a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church for 30 years. Martha loved her grandsons and great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Survivors include her daughter, Connie and Harold Higginbotham; stepdaughter, Barbara Rosenthal; stepson, Gary and Jan DeWolf; grandchildren, James and Dana Higginbotham, and Justin and Angela Higginbotham; brothers, Roger Allen and Norman and Viola Allen; sisters, Cindy Allen and Linda K. Johnson; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold Klave; seven siblings; and two grandsons, Jody and Jeremy Higginbotham.
