Martin B. Smith
Martin B. "Bebe" Smith, 80, of Moville, Iowa, formerly of Sioux City, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2007, at his residence following a 10-year battle with cancer.
Services will be 1 p.m. today at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel in Sioux City, with the Rev. Ed Frank of United Methodist Church in Moville officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be noon until service time today at the funeral home.
Martin "Bebe" was born Jan. 4, 1927, in Sioux City, the son of Arthur and Helen (Richey) Smith. He was raised in Sioux City and attended Sioux City Public Schools. He entered and served in the U.S. Army. He worked at Swift and John Morrell for more than 40 years.
He was a hard worker, who enjoyed playing cards, which he won every time. He also enjoyed dancing and entertaining people.
Survivors include a son, Jeremy and Tonya Smith of Moville; two grandsons, Jaycob Smith and Martin Smith, both of Moville; a stepdaughter, Jennifer and Jerry Turner of Sioux City; three step-grandchildren, Corey, Jalisa and Zion of Sioux City; a brother, Harry Smith of Kansas City; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
