SOUTH SIOUX CITY -- Marvel "Toots" Wright, 97, of South Sioux City died Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2008, at Matney's Colonial Manor in South Sioux City.
Visitation with the family will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel. There will be a lunch served following the visitation at Grace United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Anthon, Iowa. Condolences may be sent online to

Marvel "Toots" was born March 8, 1910, in Anthon, Iowa, the daughter of Alvin and Nellie (Dicus) Parker. She grew up and attended country school near Anthon.
She married Oscar Wright on March 27, 1926, in Sioux City. Together, they moved to rural Sioux City in 1939. She worked at Wincharger, Michael Leonard Seed Co. and during World War II at Albertsons and Harris Janitor Service doing cleaning at the Orpheum Electric Building. Oscar died in November 1981.
She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. She loved collecting and working on dolls. She had been a member of the Sioux City Museum Doll Club.
Survivors include a daughter, Dorothy Everett of Sioux City; a sister, Norma Byrne of Sioux City; five grandchildren and spouses, Donna and Jon Johnson, Douglas and Kathy Wright, David Wright, Gary and Ann Everett and Kevin and Sally Everett; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Floyd Wright; two brothers, Hartley Parker and Cecil Parker; and four sisters, Beulah Koster, Mildred Wright, Bessie Jansen and Viva Kettleson.
