Marvin Everett Harrington

Marvin E. Harrington, 72, of Sioux City passed away Monday, Sept. 17, 2007, at Indian Hills Nursing and Rehab Center.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel with Chaplain Mike Inman of Hospice of Siouxland officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., and a 7 p.m. prayer service, at the funeral home.

Marvin was born Feb. 24, 1935 in Sioux City to Robert and Sylvia (Owens) Harrington. The family lived in Leeds. On Jan. 30, 1954, he married the love of his live, Yvonne Todd in Sioux City.

Marvin started as an independent trucker as a young man. He trucked for Hagen Truck Line for 28 years, Gold Smith Trucking for one year, Bailey Trucking for six years and Guntren Trucking until his retirement in May of 2003.

Marvin enjoyed camping, watching stock car races, spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, dogs, granddogs and great-granddogs. Most of all, Marv loved having holiday dinners at his home with family and friends.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Yvonne; two sons, Bob and wife Sharon of McCook Lake, S.D. and Marvin "Skeeter" and wife Cheryl of Sioux City; four daughters Donna and husband Rick Dunne of Sioux City, Sharon Lux of Sloan, Iowa, Sandra and husband Kevin Bock Sr. of James, Iowa, and Brenda and husband Jerry Franco of Sioux City; 16 grandchildren, Bobbi Harrington and fiance Shane Evers, Jordan Harrington and significant other Dustin Toquinto, Amber Dunne, Derick Dunne and fiance Jenna Hegvik, Nickolas and wife Lanette Harrington, Marvin "Adam" and wife Justine Harrington, Jacob and wife Andrea Harrington, Cody Harrington, Zachary and wife Michelle Lux, Lacy Lux, Christina Lux, Klint Bock, Kevin Bock Jr. and significant other Ashley Miller, Sara Franco, Sheena Franco and fiance James Nash, Blake Franco; 17 great-grandchildren, Justus and Brock Harrington, Gavin Harrington, Nickolas Jr., Garrett, and Katelyn Harrington, Kolby, Aubrie, Marvin "Tater" and Max Harrington, Dylan Clayton, Jada Harrington, Chelsea and Brianna Lux, Kennedy Bock, Cayden Petersen, and Mya Franco Loutsch; his mother Sylvia Andela; two brothers, Douglas and wife Dianne and Donald; three sisters, Roberta Schoepf, Shirley Grove and Lynne and husband Chuck Hegdahl; special friends Jerry and Judy Stork; many nieces, nephews and several good friends.

Marvin was preceded in death by his father Robert; sister Beverly Laughlin; infant sisters Susan; grandson Joshua Lux; great-granddaughter Terra Harrington; and two brothers-in-law Don Grove and Mert Schoepf.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Stork, Jim Stork, Jeff Stork and Justin Stork.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Nickolas Harrington, Klint Bock, Adam Harrington, Kevin Bock Jr., Zachary Lux, Jacob Harrington, Derick Dunne, Cody Harrington and Blake Franco.
