Mary Anne James, 65, of Sioux City passed away peacefully Sunday, June 26, 2016, at home, after a brief illness.
Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with a rosary at 4 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home.
Mary Anne was born Oct. 4, 1950, in Le Mars, Iowa, to Kenneth and Margaret (Wentworth) Roethler. She graduated in 1969 from Washington High School in Cherokee, Iowa. She later received her associate's degree from Spencer School of Business.
Mary Anne married Richard E. James on July 18, 1986.
She worked at Interbake Foods in North Sioux City for more than 34 years, retiring in 2013.
She enjoyed listening to Blessed Sacrament Church on the radio, reading books, jigsaw puzzles, solving number books and word finds, and talking on the phone with friends and family. Mary Anne was always thinking of others by sending out get-well cards and articles.
Survivors include her husband, Richard of Sioux City; mother, Margaret Roethler of Larrabee, Iowa; siblings, Daniel (Barbara) Roethler of Salix, Iowa, James (Linda) Roethler of Sioux City, Constance Duke of Quimby, Iowa, John (Arlene) Roethler of Sioux City, Don "Doc" (Roxan) Roethler of Cherokee, Kathy (Ron) Good of Meridan, Iowa, and Jerry (Tammy) Roethler of Larrabee; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father.
