Mary Anna Dawdy, 72, of Sergeant Bluff died Friday, April 24, 2015, at Embassy Rehab and Health Care Center, after a courageous 37-year battle with M.S.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mary was born on March 19, 1943, in Sioux City. She was the daughter of George and Helen (Pearson) Klingensmith. Mary was raised in the Bronson, Iowa area and graduated from Bronson High School in 1961.
She married Jerry Dawdy on May 3, 1964, and they were blessed with two children, Terri and Troy. They later divorced. Mary loved being a homemaker and taking care of her family.
Mary enjoyed bowling and golfing, and she was a member of St. James United Methodist Church. She had been a resident of Embassy Rehab and Health Care Center for the past 17 years due to her illness.
She is survived by her daughter, Terri L (Steve) Schultz of Sioux City, and her son, Troy (Leona) Dawdy of Sioux City; three grandchildren, Brittni (Eric) Staben and their three children, Logan, Cameron and Jayden, Tyler Schultz, and Dax Dawdy; her sister, JoAnn (Arlan) Tomlinson of Moville, Iowa; her brother, Edward (Delphine) Klingensmith of Sioux City; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brothers, Robert and Donald Klingensmith.
