Lawton, Iowa - Mary Ella Deurmier, 97, of Lawton, formerly of Albert Lea, Minn., passed away Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013, at Char-Mac Assisted Living in Lawton.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Monday in Graceland Cemetery, Albert Lea. Visitation will be 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at McCulloch Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home in Moville, Iowa.
Mary Ella was born Aug. 15, 1915, in Pishaville, Neb., to Charles and Hattie (Simms) Jones. Mary and Elmer Deurmier were married March 23, 1935. She was a stay-at-home mother before she worked as a grocery store clerk at Olson's Grocery Store in Albert Lea. She later worked at Braaton's Jewelry Store in Albert Lea.
She enjoyed crocheting, puzzles, reading and collecting teacups and saucers.
Survivors include a daughter, Peg Bies of Sioux City; five grandchildren; Patti (Robert) Robinson of Moville, Iowa, Mike (Kathy) Bies of Tualatin, Oregon, Marc (Susan) Bies of Yankton, South Dakota, Tim (Jane) Bies of LaVista, Nebraska, Tom (Cheryl) Bies of Omaha, Nebraska; 15 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Darlene Dress of Yuba City, Calif.; sisters-in-law, Ann Jones of Albert Lea and Dorothy Jones of Springfield, S.D.; and a brother-in-law, Robert Johnson of Albert Lea; many special nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Elmer; a son, Donald LeRoy; a grandson, Marc Dennis; a son-in-law, Dennis; brothers, Elmer and Charles Jones; and sisters, Lucille Deurmier, Bessie Dahlenberg, Ethel French, and Evelyn Johnson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Char-Mac in Lawton, PACE in Sioux City, or Hospice of Siouxland.
