Mary Ruth Errett, 75, of Sioux City, died on Friday, Feb. 2, 2018 surrounded by her family in Sioux City.
Services will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday, Feb 5 with Rev. James Shirbroun of Grace United Methodist Church officiating at the Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel located at 1801 Morningside Ave. in Sioux City. Mary was born July 30, 1942 in Peoria, Ill. to Kenneth D. and Marguerite (Johnson) Marvin. She grew up and attended school there, graduating in Streator, Ill. in 1960.
In August of 1960, she married James Boyd in Streator and to this union two children were born, Julianne and Jennifer. The couple moved several times early in their marriage before coming to Sioux City in 1971. The couple later divorced, and Mary moved to Omaha in 1980. She worked as a customer service representative for a labeling company until she retired in 2003 and moved back to Sioux City to be closer to family, as they were an important part of her life.
Mary enjoyed crocheting, knitting, sewing, reading books, listening to after-hours radio programs and keeping up on current events. She was a health food enthusiast and believed in natural remedies.
She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.
Surviving are daughter, Julianne (Boyd) Mahler and her husband, John of Long Island, N.Y.; daughter, Jennifer (Boyd) Boyle and her husband, Richard of Sioux City; five grandchildren, Alexander D'Amato of Long Island, Dr. Alison D'Amato of Lumberton, N.C., Raymond Boyle of Dakota Dunes, Dannon (Boyle) Simmons of Sioux City and Candice Mahler of Long Island; great grandson, Jett Simmons of Sioux City; sister, Sherry Marvin of Long Island; and sister in-law, Mary Jo Marvin of Jaffrey Center, N.H.
She was predeceased by her parents; and brother, Charles Marvin.
The family would like to acknowledge their appreciation of the loving care provided by Hospice of Siouxland and Pioneer Valley Care Center.
