SIOUX CITY -- Mary Jane Julch, 84, of Sioux City died Friday, July 23, 2010, at her residence under Hospice care, following a brief illness.
Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Calvary Lutheran Church, with the Rev. James Travis, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be one hour prior to services at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Homes. The former Mary Jane Andersen was born April 27, 1926, in Chamberlain, S.D., to William and Martha (Jensen) Andersen. She graduated from Geddes High School in Geddes, S.D. She then attended a school to learn to operate a telegraph.
She married Lester O. Julch on Sept. 1, 1945, in Sioux City. He died on Jan. 28, 2007, in Sioux City. After the couple's marriage, they lived on a farm in the James, Iowa, area. In 2004, they moved to Sioux City. Mary was a homemaker and housewife.
She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church. She was a member and office holder in the Rebekah Circle and the Golden Agers Group and a member of the Siouxland Senior Citizen Center. She was an active card player, especially bridge and 500. She also enjoyed crocheting and had walked at the mall since 1981.
Survivors include two sons and their wives, Dennis and Gloria Julch of Omaha, and Keith and Linda Julch of Le Mars, Iowa; five grandchildren and their spouses, Brenda and Brian Petersen of Omaha, Aaron and Karen Julch of Key West, Fla., Denise and Chad Heinert of Omaha, Aimee and Jerred Williams of Oahu, Hawaii, and Adam and Teresa Julch of Omaha; five great-grandsons; and seven great-granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four brothers, Wilbur, Melvin, Dean and Wayne Andersen.
