Mary was born Jan. 1, 1943, in Sioux City, to Willard and Charlotte (Austin) Dilley. She attended Franklin Elementary, Woodrow Wilson Junior High and Central High School. She married Leslie "Les" King on Oct. 21, 1967, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Sioux City. To this union, four children were born, Robert, Kathryn, Karla and Jon.
Mary worked for Pierce Van Lines and Benedict and Oosterhuis until she became at stay-at-home mom. While at home, Mary started baby-sitting for many families. She loved those kids as if they were her own and was very proud of what "her kids" had become.
Mary was active in P.T.A., Girl Scouts and various school and church committees throughout the years. Most recently, she was on the planning committee for Central High Class of 1960's 50-year reunion. She was an active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and was in the Exalt Choir.
She loved spending time with friends and family. She loved going to her monthly breakfasts with "the girls from Central." The greatest joy for her was "the loves of her life," her six grandchildren, whom she adored. She loved going to their activities from band and choir concerts to holiday programs to football and basketball games.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Les; two daughters, Kathy and her husband, Al Rosauer and Karla and her husband, Doug Ruby; one son, Jon and his wife, Cindy, all of Sioux City; six grandchildren, Kerri Ruby, Joshua Ruby, Austin Rosauer, Hannah King, Jessica Ruby and Hunter Rosauer; brother-in-law, Dennis Dreblow and his wife, Mary Pat of Nashville, Tenn; sister-in-law, Barbara Dilley from Springdale, Ark., brother-in-law, Terry King and his wife, Carol of Kimberling City, Mo.; four nephews; one niece; five great nieces; and three great nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; infant son, Robert; her brother, Richard Dilley; her sister, Cindy Dreblow; and her in-laws, Stanley and Hazel King.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of St. Luke's Hospital, and the nurses and staff of Hospice of Siouxland. A special thank you to Sherry Leekley for the care that she gave to Mary in her final weeks and days.
